Vegetarian, Jain & halal food
Say 'jay' (เจ) for vegan-style Thai food and check for fish sauce and oyster sauce. Bangkok has many Indian vegetarian restaurants around Pahurat.
Travelling with kids or parents
Cover shoulders and knees for the Grand Palace. Doi Suthep has many steps — there's a tram for elderly travellers.
Good to know
- Use river ferries to beat Bangkok traffic.
- Domestic flights are cheapest booked a few weeks ahead.
- Avoid the midday heat for temple visits.
