Questions
Do I need a travel adapter for Thailand?
Yes. Thailand uses Type A/C sockets, and Indian plugs do not fit them.
What is the weather like in Bangkok through the year?
Roughly: January–February: warm (~25–32°C); March–May: hot (over ~32°C); June–December: warm (~25–32°C). November to February: cool and dry across most of the country. The rainy months are cheaper, and the two coasts get their rain at different times.
When is the rainy season in Thailand?
Roughly May, June, July, August, September and October (it varies by region). In those months pack a compact umbrella, a raincoat or poncho and a waterproof pouch for your phone and papers.
Which money should I carry to Thailand?
A forex card and some cash in THB for small shops, markets and tips.
Which transport card should I get in Thailand?
Rabbit card at a BTS Skytrain station, for Bangkok's Skytrain. Buy it there; there is no need to arrange it before you go.
What should I wear to religious sites in Thailand?
Clothes that cover shoulders and knees. Shoes may come off inside, so socks that are easy to take off help. On the sample itinerary: Day 2 Wat Pho, Day 2 Wat Arun, Day 4 Doi Suthep temple.
How do vegetarian, Jain or vegan travellers manage food in Thailand?
Say 'jay' (เจ) for vegan-style Thai food and check for fish sauce and oyster sauce. Bangkok has many Indian vegetarian restaurants around Pahurat. A short food card in Thai ("no meat, fish or egg"; for Jain food, also no onion, garlic or root vegetables) helps when ordering. TripRai plans every meal of a trip around what you eat.
