Questions

Do I need a travel adapter for the Netherlands?

Yes. The Netherlands uses Type C/F sockets, and Indian plugs do not fit them.

What is the weather like in Amsterdam through the year?

Roughly: January–March: cold (under ~12°C); April–May: cool (~12–20°C); June–August: mild (~18–25°C); September–October: cool (~12–20°C); November–December: cold (under ~12°C). April to September: tulips in spring, then the warmest months. Keukenhof gardens open only from late March to mid-May.

Do I need an umbrella in the Netherlands?

Yes: rain is possible in any month in the Netherlands, so pack a compact umbrella and a light waterproof layer whenever you go.

Which money should I carry to the Netherlands?

A forex card and some cash in EUR for small shops, markets and tips.

How do vegetarian, Jain or vegan travellers manage food in the Netherlands?

Vegetarian and vegan food is everywhere; try stroopwafels, poffertjes and Dutch cheese. Indonesian rijsttafel restaurants have many vegetarian dishes, and halal food is easy in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. A short food card in Dutch ("no meat, fish or egg"; for Jain food, also no onion, garlic or root vegetables) helps when ordering. TripRai plans every meal of a trip around what you eat.
