Questions
Do I need a travel adapter for Indonesia?
Yes. Indonesia uses Type C/F sockets, and Indian plugs do not fit them.
What is the weather like in Ubud through the year?
Roughly: January–December: warm (~25–32°C). April to October, Bali's dry season; May, June and September are calmer than the July–August peak.
When is the rainy season in Indonesia?
Roughly November, December, January, February and March (it varies by region). In those months pack a compact umbrella, a raincoat or poncho and a waterproof pouch for your phone and papers.
Which money should I carry to Indonesia?
A forex card and some cash in IDR for small shops, markets and tips.
What should I wear to religious sites in Indonesia?
Clothes that cover shoulders and knees. Shoes may come off inside, so socks that are easy to take off help. On the sample itinerary: Day 2 Tegallalang rice terraces and the Tirta Empul water temple, Day 4 Tanah Lot temple at sunset, Day 6 Uluwatu Temple and the Kecak fire dance.
How do vegetarian, Jain or vegan travellers manage food in Indonesia?
Bali is one of the easiest places for vegetarians and vegans, with plenty of warung and cafe options; try gado-gado and tempeh dishes. Most of Indonesia is Muslim, so halal food is easy to find outside Hindu Bali. A short food card in Indonesian ("no meat, fish or egg"; for Jain food, also no onion, garlic or root vegetables) helps when ordering. TripRai plans every meal of a trip around what you eat.
