UK packing list: what to pack, month by month

This list is made by TripRai's code from our 7-day UK itinerary (London, Oxford, Bath, Edinburgh), for a traveller from India. Every item with a day next to it is there because of that day. Plan your own trip and you get the same kind of list, made from your own days, dates and food.

Questions

Do I need a travel adapter for the UK?

Yes. The UK uses Type G sockets, and Indian plugs do not fit them.

What is the weather like in London through the year?

Roughly: January–March: cold (under ~12°C); April–May: cool (~12–20°C); June–August: mild (~18–25°C); September–October: cool (~12–20°C); November–December: cold (under ~12°C). May to September: the longest days and mildest weather. July and August are school holidays, so prices and crowds peak then.

Do I need an umbrella in the UK?

Yes: rain is possible in any month in the UK, so pack a compact umbrella and a light waterproof layer whenever you go.

Which money should I carry to the UK?

A forex card and some cash in GBP for small shops, markets and tips.

Which transport card should I get in the UK?

Oyster card, or tap in with a contactless card, for London's Tube and buses. Buy it there; there is no need to arrange it before you go.

How do vegetarian, Jain or vegan travellers manage food in the UK?

The UK is one of the easiest places for vegetarians and vegans. London has excellent Indian vegetarian food in Wembley and Southall. TripRai plans every meal of a trip around what you eat.
